SRE inks CPPAs for Formosa 4 offshore wind project in Taiwan

Synera Renewable Energy Group (SRE) has reported that the entire 495 MW capacity of its Formosa 4 offshore wind project has been fully contracted through corporate power purchase agreements (CPPAs). The project, which is construction-ready, reached full subscription following an initial CPPA signed with Taiwan Smart Electricity & Energy in December 2025, along with two additional CPPAs concluded subsequently in the same month. These latter agreements were executed with an unnamed leading corporate buyer and another unnamed power services provider.

The Formosa 4 offshore wind project is planned off the coast of Miaoli county. It secured capacity allocation under Phase 3 of Taiwan’s offshore wind programme in the first auction round held in 2022. Additionally, the project obtained its establishment permit in late 2024. With permitting and offtake in place, the project is positioned to move into the construction phase.

Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate around 2 billion kWh of green electricity annually. Moreover, Synera Renewable Energy Group has indicated that progress toward construction now depends on alignment of credit support and project financing. The company has urged the government and local financial institutions to address the project’s financing requirements.
