NTPC’s research and development wing, NETRA, will develop a plasma gasification–based green hydrogen project on its campus at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The project will produce 1 tonne of green hydrogen per day.
Furthermore, the plasma gasification technology will convert waste into tar-free syngas. The syngas will be further processed to produce hydrogen using the pressure swinging absorption or membrane technology. Additionally, the project will use municipal solid waste- refuse-derived fuel and agricultural waste as feedstock.
Earlier in September 2025, NTPC floated an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) tender to set up a 2 MW solar project.
Furthermore, in August 2025, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited issued an EPC tender for the development of a 300 MW interstate transmission system connected ground-mounted solar project.
