Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) has shortlisted GreenCo Energies Private Limited and Sun Petrochemicals Private Limited to develop 2.12 GW of pumped storage power (PSP) projects. The projects will be developed under the Bihar Pumped Storage Project Promotion Policy 2025.
The shortlisted companies will implement the projects at their own expense. Furthermore, the projects represent a total investment of Rs 130 billion. GreenCo Energies will invest Rs 78 billion to develop a 1,200 MW pumped storage project at Ekamba village. Meanwhile, Sun Petrochemicals will invest Rs 52 billion to develop a 920 MW project at Gosaitari village.
Additionally, the projects will generate employment opportunities for around 8,000 people during the construction phase and are targeted for completion within three years.
Earlier in July 2025, BSPGCL announced the auction results for its 125 MW/500 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems tender.
