The Central Transmission Utility of India (CTUIL) has issued a draft procedure for renewable energy developers. It enables them to change the declared energy source of their projects after obtaining connectivity to the interstate transmission system (ISTS).
The procedure covers projects that already possess ISTS connectivity and now want to shift from solar to wind, convert to a hybrid configuration, or add or remove storage. Furthermore, such changes are permitted only when the total megawatt capacity remains unchanged. Only projects that are not yet commissioned or injecting power are eligible to apply.
Developers may request a change of source only once per connectivity grant. The request cannot be for an increase in approved connectivity or to extend the start date. Comments on the draft can be submitted till December 27, 2025.
Earlier this month, CTUIL revoked the grid connectivity of 24 renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 6,343 MW since 2022.
