Zelestra sells Latin America renewables platform

Zelestra has signed an agreement to sell its Latin America platform to Promigas S.A. The platform comprises 1,400 MW of contracted solar and battery storage capacity, of which 1,000 MW includes projects that are either operational or under construction. Additionally, the company has a development pipeline of more than 2,100 MW of renewable capacity across 19 projects across Chile, Peru and Colombia.

In November 2025, Zelestra’s 50.4 MWdc José Cabrera solar plant in Spain began operations. It is part of a long-term virtual power purchase agreement that enables over 100 MWdc of solar capacity for Graphic Packaging, with 70 per cent of the output linked to renewable electricity guarantees of origin. The agreement also covers the 33 MWdc Socovos II project, now fully operational, and the 19 MWdc Villamañán project, expected online by the end of 2025.

In September 2025, Zelestra and BKW signed a long-term tolling agreement for the delivery of a 2 GW battery energy storage system (BESS) project in northern Italy. As part of the agreement, Zelestra will allocate a share of the plant’s generation capacity to BKW, allowing it to manage and optimise flexibility in the market. Construction for the project is scheduled to begin in 2027, and is expected to become fully operational in 2028.
