SJVN has invited bids to develop a 250 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage system at the 1,360 MW Panipat thermal power station. The project must be located near the 220 kV substation of the state transmission utility network of Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited. According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work includes setting up the projects, enabling demand-based charging and discharging of the BESS, and building the transmission network and bay up to the interconnection point. It also requires identifying and allocating land for the projects. The scope also covers the 12-year operations and maintenance of the project. The tender also states that the BESS will draw power from Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVNL) for charging. Furthermore, it will supply power back to UHBVNL based on dispatch directions from the state load dispatch centre. The system is required to use renewable energy for its charging.
Additionally, the bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 240,000 per MWh per project. They also need to submit a performance bank guarantee of at least Rs 600,000 per MWh. The bid submission deadline is January 6, 2026.
Earlier in September 2025, SJVN Limited issued a tender to procure power from 600 MW ISTS-connected wind projects.
Furthermore, in August 2025, SJVN Green Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, issued an engineering procurement and construction tender for 500 MW solar projects.
