Brookfield Asset Management has made its initial renewable energy investments in the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand, establishing a new regional decarbonisation platform. The firm has acquired Alba Renewables, a clean energy developer with a 1.8 GW pipeline of wind, solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects concentrated mainly in the Philippines and Thailand.
In Vietnam, Brookfield has also taken ownership of a 100 MW operational wind project under a long-term contract in the central region. The investment reportedly provides Brookefield a low-risk entry point into a market with strong policy backing, rapid industrial growth, and increasing electricity demand. Both the transactions have been executed through Brookfield’s Catalytic Transition Fund (CTF).
In September 2025, Brookfield and Solarvest Holdings Bhd signed a joint investment framework agreement to jointly develop, construct and operate over 1,500 MW of utility-scale solar and BESS projects in Malaysia over the next three to five years. The initiative marks Brookfield’s first investment in Malaysia through the CTF.
