Bengaluru, India: Ciel & Terre has commissioned FUSIO®, a floating solar solution developed through four years of intensive research and development under the Make in India initiative. This milestone follows the successful deployment of a pilot project two years ago and marks the beginning of large-scale implementation in India.
Innovative Engineering for Enhanced Performance
FUSIO® introduces a significant advancement in floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems, delivering a high-performance solution for solar energy generation on water bodies. It features a patented triangular float structure that ensures superior load distribution and structural integrity with a resilient geometric form to withstand external forces. Its interconnected honeycomb formation with Quincunx PV arrangements minimizes stress points and enhances stability against wind and wave conditions. The elevated module design improves airflow on the backside of the panels, delivering an excellent cooling effect and enabling ~2–3 per cent higher energy generation compared to conventional FPV systems. Additionally, FUSIO®’s
design reduces water surface coverage, supporting aeration and marine life sustainability. Tilt angles can be configured at either 5° or 12°.
Operations and Maintenance (O&M) has been reinvented by introducing a new standard in O&M efficiency and safety
• Custom Maintenance Boat, specially designed for FUSIO®, allows direct access to PV panels and can function as a tugboat for repositioning and float transportation.
• Provided Enhanced Worker Safety by eliminating the need for personnel to walk on floating platforms, significantly reducing the risk of panel damage during maintenance activities.
