JSW Energy Limited has commissioned a green hydrogen manufacturing plant located adjacent to the JSW Steel facility in Karnataka. It will supply green hydrogen directly to the direct reduced iron unit of the adjacent JSW steel facility for low-carbon steel production. Furthermore, the project falls under the production-linked incentive scheme, Tranche I.
Additionally, as part of a seven-year offtake agreement with JSW Steel, the plant will deliver 3,800 tonnes per annum (TPA) of green hydrogen and 30,000 TPA of green oxygen. This supply is included in the company’s 6,800 TPA allocation under the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s strategic interventions for the green hydrogen transition programme. JSW Energy has also inked a MoU with JSW Steel to progressively supply 85,000 to 90,000 TPA of green hydrogen and 720,000 TPA of green oxygen by 2030.
Earlier this month, JSW Energy commissioned 85 MW of renewable energy capacity, which comprises 74 MW of solar capacity (part of the NHPC hybrid project) and 11 MW of wind capacity.
