The Department of Energy (DOE) has announced the completion of the fourth round of the Green Energy Auction programme (GEA-4) aimed at scaling up renewable energy deployment across the Philippines. Following the evaluation process, 123 bidders were awarded capacities across technologies including ground-mounted solar, roof-mounted solar, floating solar, integrated renewable energy with energy storage systems (IRESS), and onshore wind.
The total awarded capacity under GEA-4 stood at 10,195.49 MW, representing a 96 per cent success rate against the installation target. The winning projects are expected to be delivered between 2026 and 2029. Ground-mounted solar projects accounted for 4,179.09 MW across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Floating solar secured 2,284 MW, with major projects planned in Laguna, Pampanga and Negros. Onshore wind projects were allocated 2,518.29 MW across Quezon, Sorsogon and Visayas provinces.
IRESS accounted for 1,189.29 MW, whereas roof-mounted solar projects contributed 24.82 MW, supporting distributed energy generation in urban regions. All successful bidders are required to submit compliance documents, including affidavits of undertaking, performance bonds, system impact studies, and proof of financial commitments. The deadline for the submission of compliance documents is December 6, 2025.
