BrightNight and Cordelio achieve financial close for Pioneer Clean Energy Center in Arizona

BrightNight, along with its joint venture partner Cordelio Power, has reached financial close for the Pioneer Clean Energy Center in Yuma, Arizona. The project comprises a 300 MWac solar plant with a 300 MW/1,200 MWh battery energy storage system. Construction activities at the site are in progress, with commercial operations scheduled to commence by April 2027.

It has been developed to meet the requirements of a long-term tolling agreement with a local utility, ensuring the supply of dispatchable renewable power to support the state’s growing electricity demand. Financing for the project has been arranged through a consortium of lenders, including Crédit Agricole, MUFG, Royal Bank of Canada, National Bank of Canada, CoBank, and ING. The Pioneer project will provide firm renewable capacity to residential and commercial consumers while supporting grid reliability and flexibility.

In June 2025, BrightNight and Cordelio Power announced the commercial operation of the 300 MW Box Canyon solar project in Pinal County, Arizona, near the town of Florence. The utility-scale solar project is expected to generate approximately $134 million in local economic benefits through property taxes and wages, bringing the total county-level contribution to over $180 million.
