REC sanctions funding for Brookfield’s 1,040 MW renewable energy project 

The REC Limited has approved Rs 75 billion in funding for Brookfield’s 1,040 MW hybrid renewable energy project. The project is situated at Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, and is being developed by Evren. Furthermore, it features 640 MW of wind and 400 MW of solar capacity. The total project cost is estimated to be Rs 99.10 billion.

Earlier in April 2025, REC Limited raised Rs 50 billion through bond issuance which includes Rs 30 billion raised via 5-year bonds with a coupon of 6.87 per cent and Rs 20 billion through 10-year bonds at a coupon of 6.86 per cent.

Furthermore, in February 2025, REC Limited signed a term loan agreement worth Rs 21.47 billion with Chenab Valley Power Project Limited for the development and construction of the 1,000 MW Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project.

REC is a Maharatna company under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. It is registered with the Reserve Bank of India as a Non-Banking Finance Company, Public Financial Institution, and Infrastructure Financing Company (IFC).
