LRE commences operations of 177 MW solar project in Tennessee

Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) has completed construction and commenced commercial operations at the 177 MW Ridgely solar project in Lake County, Tennessee. The facility supplies power to the Tennessee Valley Authority under a long-term agreement aimed at meeting the growing electricity demand in the region. The project is expected to generate around Rs 250 million in property tax revenue over its operational life.

The project incorporates advanced technology, developed in collaboration with Nextracker and First Solar. These partnerships helped minimise earthwork and steel use, preserve natural habitats, and strengthen domestic supply chains while ensuring long-term project performance and safety. The technologies deployed in the project includes Nextracker’s NX Horizon-XTR terrain-following solar tracker systems and First Solar’s thin-film solar modules. In addition to power generation, the project has supported several community development initiatives.

In July 2025, LRE commenced construction on the Twelvemile Solar 1 & 2 portfolio, with a combined capacity of 152 MW, in southern Oklahoma, US. The company acquired the portfolio from Red River Renewable Energy LLC. Power delivery from the projects are expected to commence in early 2026. Additionally, the projects are part of LRE’s 724 MW solar portfolio in the state.
