GE Vernova unveils PlanOS in the Indian market

GE Vernova has unveiled a unified software suite named PlanOS for the Indian market that offers an integrated and comprehensive system planning platform for a smarter grid. The software consists of four advanced simulation engines at its core, namely, the power flow engine, resource adequacy engine, production cost engine and capacity expansion engine.

The power flow engine provides high-fidelity steady-state and dynamic analysis, while the resource adequacy engine evaluates the overall reliability of the system, considering weather, outages and grid constraints. The production cost engine provides simulations that link investment decisions to real-world despatch and emissions. Lastly, the capacity expansion engine evaluates diverse policies, technology and demand futures by utilising an optimisation framework. By using a unified data set model, these engines simplify workflows and deliver insights more quickly and efficiently.
