SK On has signed a multi-year supply agreement with Flatiron Energy. As a part of the agreement, SK On will provide up to 7.2 GWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity for Flatiron’s utility-scale projects across New England and other states through 2030.
SK On will first deliver containerised BESS units with 1 GWh of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for a project in Massachusetts for which the deliveries are expected to begin in the second half of 2026. These deliveries will be supported by production from SK On’s U.S. subsidiary, SK Battery America.
In July 2025, SK On signed a MoU with L&F, a battery materials maker in South Korea, to supply LFP cathode materials for the North American energy storage system market. The agreement also involves plans between the two companies to discuss supply volume and period as a part of the partnership.
