Prostarm wins 150 MW/300 MWh BESS auction

Prostarm Info Systems Limited has emerged as the winner of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited’s (KPTCL) 150 MW/300 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) auction. The BESS will be set up at the Doni substation in the Gadag district in Karnataka. The project will follow a build-own-operate model for 12 years.

The capacity has been secured at a tariff of Rs 254,000 per MW per month. It includes the state component for viability gap funding (VGF). Under the VGF, the company is eligible to receive the lower of Rs 2.7 million or up to 30 per cent of the project’s capital cost. 

Earlier in July 2025, Prostarm Info Systems Limited announced plans to establish a 1.2 GWh BESS manufacturing facility in Reliance MET City, Jhajjar, Haryana.
