Poland launches tender for 400 MW BESS project

PGE Energia Odnawialna has announced a tender for designing and constructing a battery energy storage system (BESS) project with a capacity of up to 400 MW and a minimum of 800 MWh. The project will be located at the Dolna Odra power plant in Nowe Czarnowo near Gryfino.

Additionally, the project is scheduled to be operational in 2029, and has already secured a 17-year contract on the capacity market. The tender was issued on August 1, 2025 and is being carried out as an open tender under the Public Procurement Law. The deadline for bid submission is September 16, 2025.

The BESS project is part of plans to increase the PGE Group’s total energy storage capacity to 18.5 GWh by 2035. It represents the group’s second large-scale BESS investment in the country.
