Iberdrola España and Mercadona ink PPAs for 300 MW wind and solar projects

Iberdrola España and Mercadona have signed long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) for over 300 MW of wind and solar energy projects in Spain. The renewable power from these projects will be supplied to Mercadona’s logistics centres and supermarkets.

The PPAs have been signed for the next decade. The companies aim to strengthen their collaboration through the long-term PPAs and to further support the electrification of their operations. Iberdrola España, the Spanish arm of the Iberdrola Group, has an installed renewable energy capacity of 22,756 MW in Spain, as of June 30, 2025.

Earlier this month, Iberdrola and Masdar reached financial close for the 1.4 GW East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm in the UK, securing €4.1 billion in financing from 23 banks and EIFO toward the estimated €5.2 billion project cost.
