Eneco and EP NL join forces for 200 MWh battery storage project at Rotterdam port

Eneco and EP NL have joined forces for a large-scale battery project at Enecogen’s Europoort power plant in which both companies have a 50 per cent share. The project will have a 50 MW connection capacity and a 200 MWh energy storage capacity. The battery is to be put into operation in 2027.

The responsibility for maintenance and operations will be overseen by Enecogen. Furthermore, EP NL and Eneco trading departments control the battery. Eneco is an international energy company committed to accelerating the energy transition. It is active in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and UK.

Earlier in January 2025, Eneco’s Kabeljauwbeek solar farm became operational. The project is situated in the municipality of Woensdrecht in the province of Noord-Brabant. Electricity produced by the solar farm is used by KPN to power its networks, including its fiber optic network and its mobile 5G network.
