Geronimo Power commences construction of 250 MW solar project in US

Geronimo Power has commenced construction at its Portage solar project in Wisconsin, US. The project has a capacity of 250 MW. Located within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) market, the project has joined Apple River Solar, which commenced construction earlier in 2025 in Polk County, Wisconsin.

The project will deliver over $73 million in direct economic impact over its first 20 years of operation. This consists of $24 million in new tax revenue for the local county and townships. Furthermore, the contributions of the Portage solar project, combined with the contributions of Apple River Solar, will deliver over $100 million in direct economic impact across the Badger state. The project already has a power purchase agreement.

Earlier in June 2025, Geronimo Power commenced operations at its Ross County and Fayette Solar projects in Ohio. Ross County has a capacity of 120 MW, and Fayette Solar has a capacity of 47.5 MW. The projects will contribute $29.5 million in new tax revenue.
