Ecopetrol acquires Wind Autogeneración SAS

Ecopetrol SA (Ecopetrol) has fully acquired the shares of Compañía Wind Autogeneración SAS, which is the owner of the Windpeshi wind project. The project is situated in La Guajira between the municipalities of Uribia and Maicao. It has a capacity of 205 MW for wind energy production.

Furthermore, the Windpeshi project will be integrated into the self-consumption portfolio of Ecopetrol Group and is expected to contribute an average of 1,006 GWh per year. Ecopetrol plans to restart construction of the project before the end of 2025 and expects to start operations before 2028. The project will represent an estimated investment of $350 million between 2025 and 2027.

Earlier in April 2025, Ecopetrol inked an investment framework agreement subject to compliance with conditions precedent and other legal requirements. Once the conditions are fulfilled, Ecopetrol can acquire 49 per cent of the Jemeiwaa Ka’l wind cluster, which is owned by AES Colombia & CIA SCA ESP. The cluster consists of a portfolio of wind projects with a capacity of approximately 1,087 MW.
