The Nordic Hydrogen Route project, which is planned between northern Sweden and Finland, was awarded €29.4 million in support under the Connecting Europe Facility programme for Energy by the European Union earlier in 2025. The project partners, Gasgrid Finland, and Nordion Energi, following negotiations, have now inked the official grant agreement with CINEA.
The inked agreement enables the execution of the ongoing feasibility study phase, followed by the basic design phase, paving the way towards an investment decision. Furthermore, the project plays a central role in developing the hydrogen economy in the Bothnian Bay region. The project also supports the reduction of industrial carbon emissions and the emergence of new clean industries.
Gasgrid Finland is a Finland based multi-gas company that provides energy transmission system solutions to promote clean transition and an energy-efficient society. The company’s business operations consist of gas operations, LNG terminal operations, hydrogen development, and project execution.
