Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured land in Kandla, Gujarat, for the development of green hydrogen and green ammonia projects. These developments align with the Government of India’s ongoing efforts to promote green hydrogen as a clean energy source through initiatives such as the National Green Hydrogen Mission and pilot projects targeting its use in transportation.
L&T has reportedly advanced its capabilities in emerging clean energy areas, including green hydrogen and small modular reactors. Additionally, the company has also indicated its readiness to execute engineering, procurement, and construction projects globally in the domains of green hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol.
In April 2025, L&T incorporated a new subsidiary, L&T Green Energy Kandla Private Limited, to develop green hydrogen and its derivatives, including green ammonia, through its wholly-owned unit L&T Energy Green Tech Limited.
