The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has launched a solar energy initiative aimed at powering industrial zones across the state. As part of this effort, UPSIDA has identified 13 sites for the installation of solar power plants.
These include Surajpur site-5, Export promotion industrial park in Gautam Budh Nagar, Trans Delhi Signature city in Ghaziabad, special economic zone in Moradabad, as well as sites in Baghpat, Agra, Mathura, Jhansi, Prayagraj, and Shahjahanpur. These zones have been selected for their industrial significance and will be developed as solar-enabled hubs.
The initiative aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s Solar Energy Policy 2022, which focuses on reducing energy costs, promoting environmental conservation, and cutting carbon emissions. Furthermore, the initiative aims to ensure that industrial areas in the state become not only leaders in production but also energy self-reliant and environmentally sustainable. To achieve this, UPSIDA is implementing the concept of “solar industrial zones,” targeting both public and private industries to switch to solar power.
