DayOne Data Centers (DayOne) has inked a corporate renewable energy supply scheme (CRESS) agreement with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). The agreement enables DayOne to secure up to 500 MW of renewable energy over 21 years for the company’s operations in Malaysia. Furthermore, this makes DayOne the first corporation to execute the Bilateral Energy Supply Contract under the CRESS framework.
The renewable energy will be backed by a new solar generation capacity developed and operated by TNB Renewables, which is a subsidiary of TNB. The CRESS was introduced by Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation. It allows medium and high voltage corporate consumers to directly access renewable energy through TNB’s grid system.
DayOne develops and operates next-gen digital infrastructure for industry leaders. Its data centers are located across key markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Greater Bangkok, Hong Kong SAR, Tokyo, and beyond. The company is taking initiatives to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and is working towards full renewable energy use across its operations.
