The Directorate General of Training (DGT), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has partnered with Shell India to launch a green skills and electric vehicle (EV) training programme. Implemented by Edunet Foundation, the initiative will operate across select industrial training institutes (ITIs) and national skill training institutes (NSTIs) in Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. As part of this collaboration, specialised EV skill labs will be established at chosen ITIs and NSTIs to provide students with hands-on training in green energy and electric mobility.
Training will be delivered in a structural multi-tier model. The first phase includes a 240-hour advanced EV Technician course at 4 NSTIs, a 90-hour job-oriented EV skills course at 12 ITIs equipped with Shell-supported labs, and a 50-hour green skills foundation module at other ITIs without physical labs.
The curriculum, jointly developed by Shell, DGT, and Edunet Foundation, covers EV systems, battery technologies, diagnostics, safety protocols, and digital tools. Over 250 instructors will undergo training of trainers. Moreover, students will receive co-branded certifications and structured placement support to improve their employment prospects.
