Sonnedix inks 420 GWh PPA with Renfe in Spain

Sonnedix has inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Renfe for the purchase of 420 GWh of renewable energy per year to power its commercial operations. The solar installations used in this financial PPA will generate annual energy, which will be enough to power 112,000 homes. The PPA will meet a substantial amount of  Renfe’s total predicted energy needs.

The PPA was inked following the inauguration of Sonnedix’s 150 MW Covatillas 1, 5, and 6 portfolio. Furthermore, the Covatillas portfolio comprises three solar PV plants located in the municipalities of Minglanilla, Graja de Iniesta, and Puebla de Salvador, in Spain. The PV plants will deliver part of the power to Renfe, together with Sonnedix Portachuelo portfolio, located in the province of Toledo.

The three solar PV plants are connected to a shared transmission point, alongside seven other solar PV and wind projects. Additionally, the construction of the Sonnedix Covatillas 1,5, and 6 portfolio has been completed, and it generates approximately 300,000 MWh of renewable energy.
