Avangrid achieves commercial operations of the 202 MWdc solar project in Ohio

Avangrid has achieved commercial operations of the Powell Creek Solar project in Putnam County, Ohio. The project has a capacity of 202 MWdc (150 MWac) and is capable of generating electricity to power the equivalent of 30,000 homes annually.

The project consists of over 300,000 solar panels and reached commercial operation in April. Furthermore, the project is anticipated to contribute an estimated $31 million to local taxing jurisdictions over its lifetime and about $1.1 million in annual lease payments.

Earlier in April 2025, Avangrid achieved commercial operations of the True North Solar project. This is a 238 MW solar project situated in Texas, US. The solar project will deliver energy to the Texas Grid. It will also support Meta’s operations, including its upcoming data center facility in Texas.
