Norwegian Hydrogen secures funding from EU Hydrogen Bank and Innovation Norway

Norwegian Hydrogen has secured funding from the EU Hydrogen Bank and Innovation Norway for its green hydrogen project at Rjukan in Norway. The company has won the EU Hydrogen Bank auction for the green hydrogen project. It will receive up to  €13.2 million from the EU for the project.

The European Commission selected 15 renewable hydrogen production projects across the European Economic Area to receive public funding. The projects will receive a total of €992 million in EU funding, from the Innovation Fund sourced from the EU Emissions Trading System. 

The grant agreement with the EU is expected to be signed later in 2025. Furthermore, the green hydrogen project will also receive NOK 50 million in grants and a green growth loan of NOK 50 million from Innovation Norway.
