SJVN Limited has announced the results of its auction for 1,200 MW interstate transmission system-connected solar power projects integrated with 600 MW/2,400 MWh energy storage systems (ESS). SAEL Industries, Jindal India Renewable Energy, Sembcorp Green, and JBM Renewables each won project capacities of 150 MW, 300 MW, 150 MW, and 150 MW respectively at a tariff of Rs 3.32 per kWh each. Fastnote Biofuels (Hindustan Power) secured 100 MW at Rs 3.33 per kWh. Reliance NU Energies (Reliance Power) was awarded 350 MW, out of a quoted 600 MW, at Rs 3.33 per kWh using the bucket-filling method. The tender was initially floated in September 2024.
The bidders were allowed a minimum project capacity of 50 MW and a maximum project capacity of 600 MW. Projects under construction, not yet commissioned, or commissioned but selling power on a short-term merchant basis were eligible, provided they were not previously accepted under any state or central programme, nor contractually obligated to supply power to designated beneficiaries.
The tender allowed for technological flexibility, enabling the bidders to use crystalline silicon, thin-film, or concentrated photovoltaic modules, with or without trackers. Furthermore, the bidders were required to use commercially established and operational technologies to minimise risks associated with implementation and ensure timely commissioning.
