NLC India Limited (NLCIL), through its wholly owned subsidiary NLC India Renewables Limited, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) for its upcoming 810 MW solar power project. The project is located in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan.
The 810 MW project was awarded through a competitive tariff-based bidding process conducted by RVUNL. Furthermore, the project is reportedly the largest solar power project undertaken by NLCIL to date. It is expected to generate approximately 2 billion units of electricity annually. This generation capacity is expected to offset around 1.5 million metric tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
In August 2024, NLCIL signed a 25-year power usage agreement with Telangana state distribution companies for 200 MW of solar power under the CPSU scheme, with the project scheduled for commissioning by June 2025.
