THDC India Limited has successfully synchronised the first 250 MW unit of its 1,000 MW pumped storage project (PSP) at Tehri, Uttarakhand, in pump condenser mode. The turbine operates in pump condenser mode,to generate electricity and function as a condenser or heat exchanger, enhancing operational flexibility.
The Tehri PSP comprises four units of 250 MW each and, once completed, will raise the total installed capacity of the Tehri hydro power complex to 2,400 MW.
In November 2024, THDC India Limited invited expressions of interest from technical consulting agencies to prepare detailed project reports for floating solar power projects across eight Indian states, under two capacity categories: projects up to 100 MW and those above 100 MW but not exceeding 500 MW.
