NHPC Limited has commissioned a 107.14 MW unit of the 300 MW Karnisar solar project in Rajasthan. The project is located in the Bikaner district and forms a segment of a larger initiative under implementation.
The 300 MW solar plant is being established under Phase-II of the Government of India’s central public sector undertaking (CPSU) scheme. The project is scheduled to be fully commissioned by August 31, 2025.
In March 2025, NHPC Limited issued a request for selection to develop 1,200 MW of interstate transmission system-connected solar projects with an integrated 600 MW/2,400 MWh energy storage system, along with a greenshoe option for an additional 1,200 MW.
