NTPC Limited has invited bids for the development of a hydrogen refueling station in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The project will be developed under the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) mode as part of the green hydrogen mobility project. According to the tender guidelines, the bidders must submit a money deposit of Rs 2 million. The scope of work includes the design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the hydrogen refueling station, along with associated civil and architectural works. Additionally, the bidders must also provide operation and maintenance services for a period of 10 years. The deadline for bid submission is March 27, 2025.
The station will be integrated with an NTPC-provided electrolyser system capable of producing 18 kg per hour of hydrogen. It will include a hydrogen compression system with a 20 kg per hour capacity, compressing hydrogen to 500 bars. Additionally, the storage system will be designed to hold 540 kg of hydrogen at 500 bars in cylinder cascades. While a dispenser system will enable refueling of fuel cell electric vehicles at 350 bars. Other critical infrastructure components include a nitrogen generation system, an 80 kW/600 kWh battery energy storage system, a 40 kW solar rooftop installation, and a 20 kW vertical wind turbine.
According to the eligibility criteria, the bidders must have prior experience in designing, supplying, erecting, and commissioning a hydrogen refueling station or EPC experience in sectors such as hydrogen generation, refining, petrochemicals, oil and gas, chemicals, fertilisers, power, or metallurgy, with expertise in handling at least one total petroleum hydrocarbon of hydrogen capacity. The minimum average annual turnover required is Rs 188 million over the last three financial years, with a net worth of at least 100 per cent of their paid-up share capital. Collaborators or associates must have a turnover of at least Rs 19 million over the last three financial years. The bidders must also qualify as Class-I local suppliers under the Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) Order, 2017.
