The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has signed a MoU with the government of Madhya Pradesh (MP) to develop a 200 MW solar project in Dhar and a 1,000 MWh battery storage project. The 200 MW solar project is part of a broader 500 MW agreement with MP Power Management Company Limited. The contract was signed in 2023 for supplying power for a period of 25 years.
Under this arrangement, SECI will provide renewable electricity to MP, contributing to the state’s clean energy transition objectives. Additionally, SECI has proposed a phase-wise capital investment of Rs 25 billion for the development of solar and storage projects in the region.
In January 2025, SECI invited bids to establish 1.75 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects across various institutions in Meghalaya, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, and New Delhi, to be implemented under the renewable energy service company model on a build-own-operate basis.
