CHN Energy connects Rudong solar hydrogen-storage project to the grid in China

CHN Energy’s Guohua Energy Investment Co., Ltd. which operates the Rudong Integrated Photovoltaic (PV)-hydrogen-storage project has connected it to the grid. This project is located on the coastal tidal flats of the Yudong Reclamation Area in Rudong County. The project combines PV power generation, hydrogen production and refueling, and energy storage.

Furthermore, this is a 400 MW  project and spans 287 hectares. It includes a newly constructed 220 kV onshore booster station, a 60 MW/120 MWh energy storage facility, and a hydrogen production and refueling station with a capacity of 1,500 cubic meters per hour and 500 kg per day, respectively. It is expected to reduce annual carbon emissions by approximately 309,400 tonnes.

Additionally, this project is part of China’s third batch of Desert, Gobi, and Rocky Areas Mega Wind and Solar Base Projects. This facility is anticipated to produce approximately 468 million kWh of electricity annually. The project maximises energy conversion and storage efficiency by utilising coastal tidal flat resources and employing advanced PV technologies and intelligent control systems.
