NTPC inks MoU for green hydrogen mobility in Odisha

NTPC Limited has signed a tripartite MoU with the Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO), a Government of Odisha undertaking, and Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), the state’s public transit agency, to advance green hydrogen mobility in Bhubaneswar.

Under the agreement, NTPC will establish a green hydrogen fuelling station in Bhubaneswar and deploy hydrogen-powered buses for both short- and long-distance operations. This initiative is intended to replace fossil fuel-powered buses with cleaner alternatives, contributing to decarbonisation and enhancing energy security. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has provided partial funding for the project.

Earlier this month, the Odisha government approved seven renewable energy projects with a combined investment of Rs 13.86 billion, aimed at bolstering the state’s sustainable energy infrastructure. The projects, with a cumulative capacity of 192.41 MW, were sanctioned by the single-window committee of the energy department.
