Modi Naturals invests Rs 1 billion to expand ethanol production capacity

Modi Biotech Private Limited (MBPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Modi Naturals Limited, has announced a significant expansion of its ethanol production capacity with an investment of Rs 1 billion. The expansion will add 180 kilolitres per day (KLD) to its existing 130 KLD capacity, bringing the total to 310 KLD. The project involves advanced infrastructure and innovative technology and is expected to be completed within 8–10 months.

The initiative aligns with Modi Naturals’ broader diversification strategy, which includes ethanol manufacturing as one of its three key verticals, alongside consumer goods and bulk edible oil and feeds. Moreover, this expansion underscores MBPL’s efforts to enhance its biofuel production capabilities, aligning with the government’s ethanol blending petrol programme aimed at reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Modi Naturals Limited is an Indian consumer goods company specialising in wellness and food products. The company’s current operations include a 130 KLD grain-based ethanol distillery and a 5 MW captive power generation plant in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. MBPL has also received orders worth Rs 3 billion for 41,600 kilolitres of ethanol from several Oil Manufacturing Companies.
