ScottishPower inks £1 billion deal with Siemens Gamesa

ScottishPower has inked an agreement worth over £1 billion with Siemens Gamesa. As a part of this deal, Siemens Gamesa will provide turbine blades for Scottish Power’s £4 billion East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm. The East Anglia TWO project will have the capacity to produce up to 960 MW of renewable electricity. This contract follows ScottishPower’s commitment to double its investments in UK from £12 billion to £24 billion between 2024 and 2028.

Under the agreement, Siemens Gamesa will deliver 64 of its SG 14-236 DD turbines, each with a 236-metre rotor diameter, comparable in height to the observation deck of the Shard. Furthermore, the blades will be produced at Siemens Gamesa’s blade factory in Hull.

Siemens Gamesa is emerging as a leader in the offshore wind segment. Earlier in 2024, it won a contract from Polenergia and Equinor to supply turbines for the offshore Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III wind farms in Poland. As per the contacts, the companies have placed an order for the manufacturing, delivery, and servicing of wind turbines for the projects.
