Power Sustainable Energy Infrastructure (PSEI) and EDF Renewables North America (EDF Renewables) have announced the initial phase of their strategic investment. PSEI has acquired a 50 per cent share in the Desert Quartzite Solar+Storage Project. This deal was made in collaboration with Potentia Renewables. The final phase of this investment will be completed once the project reaches commercial operation.
The project is currently in its construction phase and is situated in Riverside County, California. The project will feature 300 MW of solar power and a 150 MW/4-hour battery energy storage system (BESS). Construction is slated for completion by the end of the year, with EDF Renewables’ Asset Optimisation team handling long-term operations and maintenance.
Earlier this month, EDF Renewables announced that it is set to deploy over 300 MW of battery storage to support the UK’s grid decarbonisation goals. The company has six projects in progress, scheduled to go live within the upcoming months. These include a 57 MW battery in Braintree, Essex, and a 47.5 MW battery in Indian Queens, Saint Austell.
