SJVN commissions 90 MW Omkareshwar floating solar project

SJVN Limited has commissioned its 90 MW Omkareshwar floating solar project. The project has been executed by SJVN Green Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN. The project has been developed at a cost of Rs 6.46 billion and is projected to generate 196.5 million units of energy in its first year and 4.62 billion units over the next 25 years. The project has been awarded at a tariff of Rs 3.26 per unit through competitive bidding on build, own and operate basis. With this, the total installed capacity of SJVN has been increased to 2,466.50 MW.

In July 2024, SJVN had been awarded a Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Mizoram government for the Darzo Lui pumped storage project (PSP), the first PSP in Mizoram. It is expected to cost Rs 139.48 billion at 2023 price levels and have a generation capacity of 2,400 MW. In the same month, SJVN signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with JSW Energy for inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected solar capacity of 700 MW. The PPA is signed for supply of power for a period of 25 years with a tariff of Rs 2.52 per kWh.
