Emcure pharmaceuticals signs solar power purchase agreement with Sunsure Energy

Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited, along with its subsidiary Gennova Biopharmaceuticals Limited, has signed a 22.78 MWp DC solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with Sunsure Energy.

Through this partnership, Emcure and Gennova will receive approximately 36 million units of renewable energy annually for their Pune plants. This collaboration will advance their sustainability efforts by meeting about 67 per cent of their power needs with green energy and offsetting 29,765.71 metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Under the PPA, Emcure and Gennova have also signed a shareholder agreement to acquire a stake in Sunsure Solarpark Twelve Private Limited, for the purchase of solar power under a group captive scheme.

In July 2024, Sunsure Energy had begun power supply to APL Apollo in Uttar Pradesh. Annually, it would supply 10.5 million units of renewable energy to Apollo Pipes Limited and Apollo Metalex.

In January 2024, Sunsure Energy and Tamil Nadu government had signed MoUs worth Rs 31.5 billion for setting up four clean energy generation projects aggregating 500 MW.
