SJVN receives LoI for pumped storage project

SJVN has been awarded a Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Mizoram government for the Darzo Lui pumped storage project (PSP). It will be the first such project in Mizoram. It is expected to cost Rs 139.48 billion at 2023 price levels and have a generation capacity of 2,400 MW.

The project will be spread across Darzo Nallah, a tributary of the Tuipui river. It will be an on-stream closed-loop type PSP and will have eight units of 300 MW each. The estimated time of completion for the project is twenty-seven months. Annually, 4,993.20 MU of energy will be generated with 95 per cent plant availability.

In July 2024, SJVN had issued a tender for 1,200 MW wind-solar hybrid projects. In the same month, they had signed a power purchase agreement with JSW Energy for a 700 MW solar power project.
