MNRE updates CFA rates for biomass pellet manufacturing units

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated the central financial assistance (CFA) rates for biomass pellet manufacturing units as a part of National Bioenergy Programme. The programme aims to promote the production of briquettes, pellets and biomass non-baggase based cogeneration in industries.

The rate for briquette manufacturing plant has been set at Rs 0.9 million per metric tonnes per hour (MTPH) production capacity, with maximum CFA of Rs 4.5 million per plant. While, the CFA rate for non-torrefied pellet manufacturing plant is Rs 2.1 million per MTPH production capacity or 30 percent of capital cost for plant and machinery of 1 MTPH plant, whichever is lower. While, maximum CFA is set at Rs 10.5 million per project. Meanwhile, the rate of CFA for torrefied pellet manufacturing plant is Rs 4.2 million per MTPH of production capacity or 30 percent of capital cost for plant and machinery of 1 MTPH plant, whichever is lower. While, maximum CFA is set at Rs 21 million per project. These rates apply to all states and union territories in India and will be applicable under Phase-1 of biomass component of National Bioenergy Programme.
