Guidelines issued for SOPs to streamline CBG based products

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers have issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for stock verification and quality checking for sales of bulk/ packaged fermented organic manure (FOM)/ liquid FOM (LFOM)/ phosphate rich organic manure (PROM) under the Market Development Assistance scheme. The revised SOPs are being introduced to simplify the sale of CBG-based products to farmers. States, CBG units, and fertiliser companies are required to adhere to these SOPs diligently.

B1 (quantity) and B2 (quality) will be issued by the state agriculture department, determined by the stock available at the units for each batch. The designated officer(s) from the state agriculture department must visit and inspect the batch-wise stock of FOM/LFOM every two weeks to verify both quantity and quality. The batch sizes may vary by unit and each batch will not exceed 2,000 tonnes in size. Additionally, B1 issuance for LFOM is determined by the capacity of the storage tanks or tankers. Fertiliser sales must be conducted using stock for which B1 and B2 certificates have been issued by the state government. CBG units are required to notify the state agriculture department before selling FOM/LFOM/PROM. The gas production from CBG units serves as the basis for determining the corresponding quantity of FOM/LFOM production for issuing B1.
