RWE commences construction of casey fork solar project in Illinois

RWE is building the Casey Fork Solar project located in Jefferson County, Illinois. The project will deliver new local economic activity, jobs and tax revenue. Additionally, Ameren, ComEd and MidAmerican Energy have already contracted to purchase renewable energy credits from the solar farm.

Furthermore, the project has a total capacity of 150 MWac and onsite construction is now underway. Once operational, the solar facility will grow RWE’s renewables capacity in Illinois to more than 750 MW. The solar farm adds to the company’s three operating wind farms that deliver a combined 605 MW of clean power to the state.

In May 2024, RWE concluded the final investment decision for the Nordseecluster, which includes a cluster of four offshore wind projects with a total capacity of 1.6 GW. These wind farms will be situated about 50 km north of Juist Island in the North Sea. The Nordseecluster will be executed in two phases – Nordseecluster A and B.
