Skyborn Sweden has submitted a permit application to the Swedish government and Land and Environment court for the development of the 3,000 MW Polargrund Offshore wind farm. It is located 35 km off the coast, south of Kalix and Haparanda, Polargund Offshore.
Upon completion, the wind farm is projected to produce up to 10 TWh green electricity. This will be enough to power over 7 per cent of Sweden’s current electricity consumption. Furthermore, some projections forecast an unprecedented 800 per cent increase in the region’s power needs.
In September 2023, Skyborn Renewables received an environmental permit from Sweden’s Land and Environment Court for its GW Storgrundet offshore wind project. The permit allows the installation of 51 turbines that will produce 1 GW of clean energy.
