MNRE allows multi-state registrations for rooftop solar vendors

In order to facilitate multi-state vendor registrations on the national portal for the residential rooftop solar programme, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has modified the procedure document for executing the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. The MNRE announced that vendors will now have the option for multi-state registration in addition to national registration. REC Limited will serve as the registering authority for both national and multi-state registrations.

The vendors are required to submit a bank guarantee of Rs 2.5 million for national registration and a bank guarantee of Rs 250,000 for each state or Union Territory (UT) where they seek registration. This guarantee must remain valid for a minimum of five years from the date of registration or the renewal of their registration/empanelment. If a vendor registered across multiple states plans to extend its registration to include additional states or apply for national registration, it must augment its current bank guarantee by Rs 250,000 for each additional state or Rs 2.5 million for national registration.

The vendors with national registration are authorised to install rooftop solar systems in any district or state. Nevertheless, they are required to specify the states and districts of operation for inclusion in the consumer search list. Likewise, vendors registered under multi-state registration can establish rooftop solar systems under the programme in any district of the states/UTs for which they hold registration. They are required to specify the districts within these states/UTs where they intend to operate.
