GAIL India Limited has commissioned its maiden green hydrogen facility. Located at Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh, the plant has a capacity to produce 4.3 tonnes per day of hydrogen with a purity of 99.999 per cent. The facility utilises 10 MW proton exchange membrane units of electrolyser.
The hydrogen generated by this unit will first be used as fuel in conjunction with natural gas for captive usage in the various processes and equipment of the existing facility at Vijaipur. Furthermore, high pressure cascades will be used to deliver this hydrogen to retail customers in the surrounding regions.
