AMEA Power has inked a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Eskom for the 120 MW Doornhoek Solar PV Project. The Solar PV Project, valued at $120 million, was secured during Bid Window 6 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP).
AMEA Power holds the majority stake in the project and has collaborated with Ziyanda Energy and Dzimuzwo Energy. Additionally, debt financing will be provided by Standard Bank South Africa, while the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) will supply equity funding for the local partners.
Once operational, the project is expected to produce over 325 GWh of clean energy annually, providing electricity to approximately 97,000 households and reducing carbon emissions by 330,000 tonnes. It is situated near Klerksdorp town in the North West province.
